Industry Report: IoT Cybersecurity in the Built Environment

IoT Cybersecurity in the Built Environment: Improving Facilities and IT Collaboration to Keep Our Buildings Smart and Secure, is now available. This industry report presents the findings from a three-year study focused on how higher education facilities and IT groups share their knowledge and skills in order to improve IoT cybersecurity and how policies on privacy and cybersecurity impact the ways in which IT and facilities collaborate. The report details current organizational, cultural, and process challenges that impact IoT cybersecurity and the strategies that IT and facilities personnel and leadership have pursued to improve IoT procurement, implementation, and management. The report also showcases five case studies of universities and the practices that support their collaborative efforts to improve IoT cybersecurity. This report concludes with recommendations for higher education institutions specifically and large owner institutions in general.
